A Winding Path to Purpose

Life has an extraordinary way of guiding us toward our true calling, often through challenges that test our limits. My journey to becoming a Yogic Breathing Teacher was anything but a straight path- it was a long and winding road filled with curiosity, resilience, healing, love and the profound power of breath.

A Childhood Fascination with Breath

From a young age, I was captivated by breath control, especially holding the breath underwater, always pushing myself to stay submerged longer. This curiosity directed me to observe various mammals and their breathing patterns, leading to an intriguing realization:

  • Dogs breathe 18-34 times a minute and live 10-15 years.
  • Humans breathe 12-20 breaths a minute and live 70-90 years.
  • Certain turtles breathe 4-6 breaths a minute and live nearly 200 years.

While these observations are anecdotal, they fueled my belief in a possible connection between respiratory rate and longevity. Perhaps this also explains why some individuals practicing yoga, breathing, and meditation appear much younger than their actual age, their slow breath seems to slow time itself.

Movement as My First Language

Physical movement has always been my way of expressing myself. Whether running, practicing martial arts or pushing my endurance in sports, I felt most alive when my body was in motion. But as my knee issues worsened, the high-intensity activities that once gave me freedom became a source of pain and frustration. That led me to accept that running and martial arts were no longer sustainable for my body.

That’s when yoga became more than a practice- it became a way of life. The rhythm of breath and movement grounded me, providing strength and serenity. It allowed me to challenge my body in a new way, not through speed and force, but presence and breath.

Losing and Rediscoveing My Strength

Life is full of challenges. A car accident left me unable to continue my yoga practice. My body, already adapting to past limitations, now faced even greater challenges. Along with the knee issues, I suffered a spine injury and a neck hernia.

I tried everything to regain my movement and strength, but nothing restores my sense of connection. Heavy painkillers became a temporary relief until my wife introduced me to the power of the breath. It became my anchor.

Through the Breathing practice I found a way to experience the sensation of a physical workout while reconnecting with myself on a deeper level. The seemingly subtle practice gave me strength, energy, clarity and peace when I needed it the most.

A Near-Death Experience & The Power of the Breath

The most profound test came unexpectedly.  A routine medical procedure led to a severe bacterial infection in my body, bringing me to the edge of life itself. In that moment, it was not just the unwavering support of my loved ones that carried me through- it was the calming embrace of yogic breathing techniques.

Breath was not longer a practice, it became my lifeline.

Seeking Knowledge, Finding Purpose

Determined to understand the science behind what had saved me, I immersed myself in the advanced Breathing studies at Kaivalyadham, one of the world’s leading research-based yoga institutes. There, I deepened my knowledge of breath control and its profound physiological benefits. The experience changed me forever, and ignited my passion to share this wisdom with others.

A Mission to Share the Power of Breath

Today, I teach Breathing not just as a technique but as a journey– one that enhances health, sharpens focus and elevates overall performance (physically, mentally and spiritually). My mission is to guide others to unlocking the transformative potential of their breath, just as I did.

If you are ready to explore the power of your own breath, I am here to walk the path with you. Because sometimes,  all it takes is a single breath to change everything.
